Current Projects

Europe-LAND

The Europe‑LAND project develops and tests integrated tools to better understand and influence land‑use decisions in Europe, particularly regarding climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. Combining national data analysis, stakeholder participation, surveys, and eight local case studies, the project also strengthens stakeholders’ skills through webinars and events. It is coordinated by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and involves 13 scientific partners from twelve European countries.

GreenGardens (Jardins adaptés au climat)

The GreenGardens project unites 200 vulnerable farmers and an international consortium of researchers to co‑develop climate adaptation practices in agriculture across Benin, Morocco, and Canada. Using a participatory, design‑thinking approach supported by digital tools, the partners create and test regenerative, nature‑based solutions in “Shared Gardens” while ensuring the inclusion of women and adolescents. By including diverse cognitive styles, the project aims to strengthen resilience and sustainable productivity in regions with differing socio‑economic contexts.

KLIM MENT

Climate change increasingly threatens both physical and mental health, with students in Germany considered particularly vulnerable. The “KLIM MENT” project investigates which climate-related factors impact students’ mental health and develops preventive measures tailored to universities. Through a nationwide survey and focus groups the project will design, test, and later disseminate effective interventions to prevent climate‑related mental distress among students.

WISEWASTE

In Ecuador, efforts to get waste management systems into practice are supported by the WiseWaste project, where a research institute on sustainable waste management is founded and supported with knowledge transfer, best practice examples and support to prepare a pilot study.
